Computer Tips
You don't have to be an expert to manage your computer and to be savvy.  It's know the core basics.  Although many of us are using tablets, cell phones, and more, nothing is better than a PC where you have significant typing speed and faster downloads.  The
Organize Your PC page provides more information.

Recommended basics:

Know what a folder is - and use them!  keep information separate, be it photos, finances, and miscellaneous articles. This makes it MUCH easier to find files that you may need to locate 6 months from now.

Learn how to throw out files no longer needed?  Do you really need to save that letter you wrote to your congressman back in 2007?

Learn keyboard shortcuts - CTRL +C to copy, CTRL + V to paste, CTRL + X to cut.  A few of these shortcuts are detailed on this one page handout

Becoming Tech Savvy

Although it looks super easy, you may need some assistance with tutoring or adult education classes.  Westport Continuing Education offers many courses.  Other communities offer classes in the evening as well as continuing education at Housatonic and Norwalk Community College.

If you're a bit bashful or need personalized training, hire a specialist.  Alan Weaver, who does my website, is knowledgeable of all Microsoft products including Windows (XP, Vista, 7), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

In addition, he knows Photoshop and Photoshop Elements so you can touch up almost any photo!  Email him at info@big-pic.net for more information or go to his website, the big picture
